support For aspiring leaders

“The SHN contracting session was instrumental in steering deep reflection on our values, working styles and commitment to a shared role.  We came away recognising that we had some refinements to make in our approach, however were empowered and inspired by what we learnt through the session and are more determined than ever to apply for a co headship.

If you are unsure, hesitant or in any doubt, I would advise you 100% to get in touch with SHN. The knowledge, advice and support they can provide is immense and invaluable.

“I’d be delighted to be a part of this community. I would love to (one day) be a co-head. I am really interested in the idea of job sharing and think it’s the key to a balanced and fulfilling life. I’m not yet a Mum but hoping to be soon.”

our community spirit

“An inspirational day. Love the ethos of honesty, no self promotion. All totally collegiate.”

“Absolutely inspiring day. Really helpful, interesting and has given me lots to think about. And hope for a new way!”

“You are all so inspirational! I’m so honoured to be a part of this pilot group. Thank you so much.”

Feedback from our 2019 Co-Leadership Pilot

“If we are committed to improving pupil outcomes, we need to be equally committed to improving teacher well being and retention of excellent teachers. Flexible working and job sharing look like the most obvious routes to both!

I have felt ‘stuck’ in middle leadership for years. Putting in phenomenal hours for little return. For me, becoming a parent was the catalyst for change.

Changing the culture of leadership in education

“I have previously worked as a Deputy headteacher and assistant headteacher. After having children, I wanted more of a balance so I took a part time SENCo role. I dearly miss being a senior leader but I would like to maintain this balance.”

“I am really keen to get involved in this and am glad I discovered you on Twitter. The thing that is stopping me from progressing and becoming a DH is that I want to continue to work part time. Something that isn’t really available out there just yet.”
